New Developments in White Grub IPM

Abstract:

Dr. Koppenhöfer will talk about recent developments in IPM research for white grubs in turfgrass, particularly on the development of a new highly white-pathogenic and -specific nematode, Steinernema scarabaei, for sustainable white grub control, and on the development of mating disruption technology for the oriental beetle, the major white grub species in from NJ to RI.

Biography:

Albrecht Koppenhöfer is the Extension Specialist for turfgrass entomology at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. He conducts research and provides information for turfgrass managers on the management of insects in turfgrass. He earned a PhD in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Giessen, Germany, and an Ms in Biology from the University of Bonn, Germany.
