The Role of State Agencies in Promoting and Regulating School IPM

Biography:

Ann Waters serves as the Outreach and Training Coordinator for the Pesticide Control Program of the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). In addition, Ann is also the Program's School IPM Coordinator focusing her efforts on the promotion of IPM in schools to assist in the requirements of NJ’s School IPM mandate. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Planning and Design from Rutgers University, Cook College and is currently completing degree requirements for a Master of Science degree in Community and Regional Planning at Temple University.

Ann is responsible for providing training to both regulated and non-regulated audiences in pesticide awareness with an emphasis on IPM. She has coordinated the Program’s efforts, together with the Rutgers University Pest Management office and Extension in the development of IPM policies, plans and other resources to assist in the implementation of IPM in New Jersey schools. She was also part of the Program’s rule writing team in the adoption of new regulations for IPM in New Jersey schools.
