Speaker: Shawnee Hoover, Special Projects Director for Beyond Pesticides
Abstract:
Over half of all states in the country require some kind of IPM practice at schools. Federal legislation has been introduced that requires public schools to develop IPM plans. Why is IPM so important in schools, how does it differ from other IPM, and what is needed to help schools adopt and implement IPM successfully? For over six years Beyond Pesticides has worked with hundreds of school community leaders, parents, teachers, activists, organizations, and decision makers nationwide to help facilitate the adoption of IPM in schools. Beyond Pesticides and the School Pesticide Reform Coalition (SPRC) authored Safer Schools, which highlights the successful IPM experience and catalysts for change of 27 schools and school districts in 19 states.
