Sustainable Landscaping

Speaker: Ron Dodson , President and Chief Executive Officer of Audubon International

Abstract:

Sustainable communities is a concept that is being promoted by many organizations. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) can be an important component of sustainability. Balancing ecologic, economic, and social equity issues is the focus of sustainable communities. A key to this rests in the reduction of the use of non-renewable resources and substances than can have an adverse impact on the environment. This is a central theme to IPM. For IPM to truly be a leader in the area of sustainable communities, the practice must be promoted on a watershed or regional scale. This presentation will focus on this need and provide information and case studies about how Audubon International is promoting this approach and is engaged in forging partnerships to foster sustainable communities.
