Speaker: Greg Baumann, National Pest Management Association

Abstract:

Integrated pest management is more than a trendy term in the eyes of the professional pest management firm. The industry has emphasized the hands-on IPM approach through education and training on the technical side. While the general thought might be that the first step is to reduce dependence on traditional products, IPM is a many faceted approach that requires detailed inspection, identification, establishing control methods while considering restrictions and customer needs, and finally, monitoring the effectiveness of the program. Consumers play a major role in determining the overall design which will ultimately lead to a successful IPM program. Consumers have presented their opinions about pest management and using the data presented a truly integrated partnership may be forged when developing a pest management program.
