Abstract: Dr. Shrewsbury will discuss measures to enhance biological control in landscapes. She will focus on how plant management practices and landscape design can be used to conserve natural enemies and create more sustainable urban environments.

Biography:

Dr. Paula Shrewsbury has been an Extension Specialist in Ornamental and Turf Integrated Pest Management (IPM) in the Department of Entomology at the University of Maryland since 1999. Paula received her Bachelor’s in Plant Science from the University of Rhode Island, her Master’s in Entomology from the University of California at Riverside, and her Ph.D. in Entomology from the University of Maryland. Paula’s research and extension emphasis is in the development of alternative, less-toxic control tactics, landscape ecology, and biological control. Dr. Shrewsbury has been working in this area for over 15 years.
