Abstract:
The presentation will highlight trends and risks of tick-associated disease and review current and upcoming strategies that can be used to manage tick populations in the residential landscape.
Biography:
Kirby Stafford is Vice-Director of the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station, Head of the Department of Entomology, and State Entomologist. He has spent 17 years studying the ecology and control of the blacklegged tick, Ixodes scapularis and in addition to research, frequently speaks to the public on issues related to ticks and Lyme disease. He earned a Ph.D. and M.S. in medical/veterinary entomology at Texas A&M University and Kansas State University, respectively.
