Teaching youth about IPM methods and techniques can be a daunting task, however, there have been several successful programs that have begun to teach kids the importance of IPM. By using interactive and engaging techniques, youth in middle school programs have begun to learn the value of practicing IPM methodology and the impact this type of knowledge can have on their communities. This is especially of importance to youth who live in congested, urban communities across the U.S. Highlights of this presentation will include the techniques used in an urban school setting in Philadelphia, that has begun to teach youth and their communities about the uses and methodology of IPM. The presenter will cover the methodology used for engagement and implementation, baseline data, and successes from this project.
