Center Launches IPM Partnership Grants Program
The Northeastern IPM Center has created a new competitive funding program called the IPM Partnership Grants, through which the Center will actively support projects that address regional IPM priorities. The IPM Partnership Grants are part of the Center’s effort to serve as the region’s focal point for team-building efforts, communication networks, and stakeholder participation in fostering the development and adoption of IPM. The program gives stakeholders an opportunity to influence decisions more fully by enabling them to win support for and lead efforts to address real-world IPM challenges. Sharing responsibilities in this way helps the Center draw from a richer pool of expertise and address a broader range of issues. |
After three years, we finally have funding to give in support of regional IPM efforts |
The new funding opportunities are open to individuals and groups both within and outside of the land grant system, including private individuals and institutions, businesses, commodity organizations, and governmental and nongovernmental organizations. Applicants are strongly encouraged to collaborate with other states, institutions, and organizations.
This year, there are five project types for which we are seeking applications:
State Network Projects
Funding is available for up to $20,000 per state to support the component of the Northeastern IPM Center that functions along state boundaries. Click here for links to existing Information Network Projects funded by the Northeastern Pest Management Center in 2000.
IPM Tactics Surveys, Crop Profiles, and Pest Management Strategic Plans
The Center expects to use a total of $50,000 – $120,000 this year to support the development of IPM tactics/use surveys, crop profiles, and pest management strategic plans. Projects will be ranked based on priorities found in this online matrix.
IPM Working Group (IWG) Priorities Competitive Fund
We expect to utilize a total of $75,000 – $100,000 to fund projects that address priorities proposed by the Center’s IPM Working Groups (previously called Commodity Working Groups).
Regional IPM Publications Fund
We expect to use a total of $5,000 – $15,000 this year to support the development of regional and multistate IPM publications. Funds may be used to plan, develop, or print documents with multistate or regional applicability.
Critical/Emerging Issues
We expect to use a total of $50,000 – $100,000 this year to fund projects that address a critical or emerging IPM issue of regional or national significance. The Center expects that this fund will help to facilitate timely responses to critical issues, as an early regional response can lead to quicker and more effective solutions. Proposals for critical/emerging issues may be submitted at any time during the year.
